United Kingdom: Goldfish

Yesterday, I received a postcard from Poland and UK respectively.

This card from UK has a....goldfish on it haha. I was rather surprised when I saw it because its face was so cute, and his wide open mouth seemed to be looking for more pellets. It actually reminds me of my childhood goldfish. I used to have 6 of them in the same tank, and they'd open their mouth whenever I walked close to them :) I wonder if they recognizes me :P

Yesterday, I received a postcard from Poland and Great Britain respectively.

This card from Poland features a beautiful sunset at the Stolowe Mountains in Poland. I really like the pinkish-tone of this picture because it makes the scene magical and mysterious. Also, sunsets always adds the warm tone to the setting.

Stolowe Mountains are also known as the Table Mountains. It is a mountain range stretching from Poland to Czech Republic. The highest peak of the range is Szczeliniec Wielkl at 919m.

The Netherlands: Sliver Miffy

Yesterday, I received a postcard from Australia and The Netherlands respectively.

This card sent from The Netherlands was a kind reply from a Postcrossing who I've sent to card to in the past. Although I was confused for a second...I believe this cute bunny on this card is Miffy. :D The reason it is Miffy is that it has the cross mouth, which is the signature feature of Miffy. I still doubt myself sometime because I've never seen a black and white Miffy before...

Would you agree that it is Miffy...? Or it's some other character..?

Australia: Mile Post

Yesterday, I got a card from Australia and The Netherlands

This card from Australia features a koala and kangaroo standing next to a mile post. With several destinations on the pole, I really like that Hong Kong and USA are on there because one is my hometown where the other one is where I currently live :D

Although it says your next choice of destination is obvious.....I find it difficult..UK? or Japan..? or even New Zealand...? Which one would you pick?

South Korea: Moon and Starry Night

Today was a great day :) I got a postcard from Italy, USA, and South Korea respectively. <3

I received this card from a postcrossing-pal that I've been swapping with quite a bit.

This is a stunning card because moon is one of my favorite types of card and always hang them on my postcard wall so that I can look at them often.

On the card there is this quote saying "No matter what language we speak, we all live under the same moon and stars". This is very true and kind words, because a postcard collector, we communicate with people who lives on different part of the world. Although we may speak different languages and practice different cultures, we live on the same Earth and share the same moon, which also fascinates me. So, always treasure your encounters with people who you meet because each one of you is unique.

USA: Avalanche, Colorado

Today was a great day :) I got a postcard from Italy, USA, and South Korea respectively. <3

This beautiful avalanche postcard was sent to be as a kind reply for a postcrossing card I sent to a user.

Avalanche would result from gravity, primary due to loose snowpack or increase precipitation in the area. It can also be cause by skiers, snowmobiles, animals, or explosives.

With a picture that featured the dangerous and breathtaking avalanche, it was taken from Telluride, Colorado. This is a very beautiful card because I like snow a lot and I don't see snow very often regarding where I live. Although it's rather dangerous to do, I hope I'd be able to see this in-person someday.

Today was a great day :) I got a postcard from Italy, USA, and South Korea respectively. <3

This card from Italy is a tired street cat that's laying on a barrel. It's a cute card and I do like cats a lot. Thought the more I look at it.....the more I feel like this is a painting instead of a real photo.... What do you think?

Russia: Map of the city Yaroslavl (Ярослáвль)

Yesterday, I received postcard from Russia.

Featuring one of my favorite postcard types, this card is a map of the Russian city Yaroslavl. Located at the northeast of Moscow, Yaroslavl is the largest city out of the Golden Ring cities, which was a group of eight historic cities northeast of Moscow that has placed an important role in the Russian history.

Yaroslavl has managed to retain a great deal of its 17th-19th century urban substance. One of the most well-known building in the city is the "Spaso-Preobrazhensky" Monastery. It was founded in the 12th century, and its cathedral was one of the oldest building in the city.

Hope you all like this card :)

USA: Old State Capitol, Springfield, Illinois

Today, I received a card from Illinois, USA

The Old State Capitol State Historic Site in Springfield is the fifth capitol building built for the US state of Illinois. It was the site of candidacy announcement by Abraham Lincoln in 1858 and Barack Obama in 2007.

A bill introduced by Abraham Lincoln was passed, resulting in the Capitol of Illinois being moved from Vandalia to Springfield on July 4th, 1839, making Springfield the sixth capitol of the state. The Capitol was completed in 1863 and cost $260,000. The also was the site where Lincoln delivered his famous "House Divided" address.

Germany: Brandenburger Tor, Rathaus und Neptunbrunnen, Alexanderplatz mit Fernsehturm

Few days ago, I received a card from Taiwan and Germany.

This card from Germany features a multi-view from the city of Berlin.
<Postcrossing ID: DE-4811709>

Left top corner: Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor) is an 18th-century neoclassical triumphal arch in Berlin, and also one of the best known landmarks of Germany. Located in the western part of the city centre of Berlin, it was built on the site of a former city gate that marked the start of the road from Berlin to the town of Brandenburg an der Havel.

Left bottom corner: Rotes Rathaus und Neptunbrunnen (Rotes Rathaus and Neptune Fountain)
The Rotes Rathaus, also called the Red City Hall, is the town hall of Berlin, located in the Mitte district. It is home to the governing mayor and the government of the Federal State of Berlin. The name of the landmark building dates from the facade design with red clinker bricks. As for the Neptune Fountain also located in Berlin, its center features the Roman god Neptune, with the four women surrounding him representing the four main rivers of Prussia at the time the fountain was constructed.

Right: Alexanderplatz
It is a large public square and transport hub in the central Mitte district of Berlin.

Sorry that I'm not an expert in German landmarks.

Hope you liked these cards

Taiwan: View of Jiufen (九份)

Few days ago, I received a card from Taiwan and one from Germany.

This card from Taiwan features a view of the city Jiufen. Located at the north-eastern part of Taiwan, Jiufen is very popular tourist attraction among visitors. One of the special features in this city, also shown on the postcard, is the steep and narrow street. This town is also famous for its street foods such as taro balls (芋圓).

It is also said to be the background model for the movie Spirited Away. (for those who are Studio Ghibli fans)

Taiwan: Leaning Mailboxes

Today, I received a postcard from Taiwan.

As some of you might know, in August 2015, Taiwan was hit by a rather strong typhoon. two of the mailboxes in Taipei did not stand the strong winds and was bent as a result. It became such a popular tourist afterwards and it made it onto the international newspapers.

Although the original bent mailboxes were red and green, this postcard has multiple colors of mailboxes and smiley faces on them. It also features a quote "Smiling makes the world a better place". Don't you think this is cute?

Vietnam: Rex Hotel

Today, I received 2 postcards from South Korea and 1 from Vietnam.
The card from Vietnam was sent to my from one of my best high school friends.

My friend went to Vietnam recently to participate in a volunteer activity in Ho Chi Minh City. She said she was having a time of her life volunteering for the kids in Vietnam. It is always heart-warming to get her mail because we haven't written to each other for awhile and she still sent a postcard to me during her travels. <3

This card features the Rex Hotel that is in Ho Chi Minh City. You could definitely tell that this is a busy place by all the car lights that are swirling around the water fountain.

She is off to traveling again today to Chengdu and I hope that she'll enjoy her travels. :)

South Korea: The Moon

Today, I received 2 postcards from South Korea and 1 from Vietnam.
Both of the cards from Korea were traded from a direct swap on Postcrossing.

This second card I got is also from South Korea sent by Eunhee. It's a simple picture of the moon, but it brings a sense of quiet and peaceful feel to the card. The outer space has always been a mysterious place because we the information we could get from it is always second hand, and not very many humans have set foot on our beautiful Moon before.

"There are nights when the wolves are silent and only the moon howls." - George Carlin
Also, the stamp on the very left is by far one of my favorite stamps from Korea. It features the Korean consonants and vowels that is called Hangul. Hangul was promulgated by Sejong the great with the main goal to increase the literacy of Korea at the time.

South Korea: Are We All Lost Stars Trying To Light Up The Dark

Today, I received 2 postcards from South Korea and 1 from Vietnam.
Both of the cards from Korea were traded from a direct swap on Postcrossing.

This card from South Korea is actually my very first circle-shaped card that I've ever received. I've seen them online before, but never had one in my possession. But thanks to sender, I finally got one. With a celestial background, the card features a quote "Are we all lost starts trying to light up the dark".

Do you think you are one of those stars?

Sender said she likes autumn a lot because it neither too hot or too cold. However, I like winter a lot because I enjoy the cold and the snow a lot :) What about you?

The card also came with a Gemini stamp :D which is also my favorite horoscope. Because why? Geminis are the best. They are crazy and cheerful, and they will never fail to entertain you. Also, I am a Gemini...so...yay to all the Geminis out there :D

Thank you for the card Eun-hee.

USA: Milwaukee Public Market, Wisconsin

Today, I got three direct swap cards from Korea (South), Malaysia, and USA

The Milwaukee Public Market, which opened in October 2005,features a number of specialty food vendors and, is located in a revitalized area of downtown Milwaukee. The market opens everyday, and has high quality selections of artisan and ethnic products and freshly-made prepared foods.

Although I have never been there myself, I imaged it to be pretty similar to the Pike Place Public Market in Seattle, which also has lots of fresh food and produces in the market.

Any of you like to go to public markets for food also? :)

South Korea: My Neighbor Totoro ( となりのトトロ )

Today, I got three direct swap cards from Korea (South), Malaysia, and USA.

This one I received from South Korea has Totoro on it, which is one of my all time favorite movie from the Studio Ghibli. It is an animated fantasy film aired in 1988. The movie tells the story of two young sisters and their interaction with the friendly wood spirits in postwar Japan.

For those who have watched the movie, my favorite scene of the movie was where the two girls were waiting at a bus stop in the rain for their father, while Totoro joins and wait with them. Totoro was so fascinated with the rain drops, where he bounced and caused all the water that's being held up by the leaves falls onto the girls and Totoro.

For those who have never watched the movie before.....GO WATCH IT NOW!!! You'll definitely enjoy this warm movie. Considering watching it with a friend or your partner as the next date/movie night. :)

Hope you like, or will like this movie as much as I did :)

South Korea: Gwanghwamun (광화문 / 光化門)

Today, I received a postcard from South Korea that features Gwanghwamun.
It's name might look intimidating to some of you, but it has 3 syllables and is pronounced as Gwang / Hwa / Mun.

Gwanghwamun is the main and largest gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, South Korea. It is located at a three-way intersection at the northern end of Sejongno. As a landmark and symbol of Seoul's long histroy as the capital city during the Joseon Dynasty, the gate has under gone multople period os destruction and disrepair.

In a poll of nearly foreign 2000 visitors, it was stated that watching the changing of the guards at the main gate was their third favorite activity in Seoul. The royal changing of the guard ceremony is held in front of the main gate every hour from 10:00 to 15:00.

I think sender took this picture herself and made it into a postcard, this picture is absolutely beautiful. :) When I visited Seoul, I also visited Gwanghwamun and the guard changing ceremony was indeed one of the most memorable activities. If you were to visit South Korea one day, be sure to pay a visit to Gwanghwamun, I assure you that you will no regret your time spent there. :)

After all the holiday craziness and traveling, I received four postcards in my mail few days ago from Switzerland, USA, Poland, and Germany.

This postcard features a cartoon map of the state of New Mexico (NM). New Mexico is located in the southwestern region of US, and joined the country as the 47th state in 1912. Although the state capital of NM is Santa Fe, the largest city is Albuquerque, which is also the city where Breaking Bad took place.

Other than showing the cities, the lower left hand corner of the card also introduce other state facts. Road runner as the state bird; Black Bear as the state animal, and the yucca as the state flower.

This is such a colorful card showing this beautiful state. It makes me want to collect all other state map that's in the country.

USA: Multnomah Falls, Oregon

Hello everyone :) How was your winter break and New Years? Did you did anything exciting?
I had a great vacation and traveled quite a bit over the holidays. In those 10 days of my vacation, I did a little road trip with my boyfriend to different places in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. Although most of the places we went were to visit family and friends, the highlight of the trip was Multnomah Falls in Oregon that's located along the Columbia River.

From Lewiston, Idaho, we drove a few hours til we reached the Columbia River, and traveled along the Historic Columbia River Highway westward towards Portland. The Columbia River serves as the boarder between Washington State and Oregon State. It is a very scenic drive along the river and there are streams and other waterfalls along the way.

Located in the Columbia River Gorge, Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in Oregon State, and also the second tallest year-round waterfall in the US. At the bottom of the waterfall, there is a small lodge that serves as a information center and gift shop. If you follow the trail behind and walk 0.2 miles, you'll reach the Benson footbridge that is 32m above the lower cascade.

The day I went was super cold and windy....After the walk up the bridge, my boyfriend and I ran down to the lodge for some hot coffee and cocoa...
 The Princess Legend

A legend is told of a terrible sickness that threatened the Multnomah people. An old medicine man revealed that the sickness would pass if a maiden threw herself from a high cliff on the Big River to the rocks below. When the Chief's daughter saw the sickness on her lover's face, she went to the cliff and plunged to her death. Now when the breeze blows through the water, a silvery stream separates from the upper falls. The misty stream fashions a from of the maiden, a token of the Great Sprit's acceptance of her sacrifice.

Lastly, an Oregon State shaped card with the beautiful Multnomah Falls on it :)

Do you agree that this place is beautiful also?
Would you consider visiting if you had the chance to?
