Japan: Kanagawa (神奈川県) Gotochi, Tokyo Tower, Sleepy Cat

Hello Everyone :) Enjoying the last weekend before school starts?

Few days ago, I got my first direct swap from Japan. (yay :D  arigatou)

They were three awesome cards from Kazusa :)

This first one is Tokyo Tower with fireworks at night. I do like fireworks a lot because they bring happiness and at the same time symbolize that something is worth celebrating. Also, it‘s just difficult to get a bright and clear picture of them.
This second one is the very first gotochi card I've ever gotten. Now I understand why people are obsessed over them because they are shaped and show the famous landmarks of the province.
The postcard here is Wakasaki Daishi (Heiken-ji), which is written as 川崎大師平間寺 in Japanese. Every year, people come to this temple and wish for luck.

MEOW
Cats are just my FAVORITE (as always)
And yawning ones are especially cute and adorable
Caption on the card says:
" It'd be nice to be doing some fun and interesting things"
Isn't that cute? hehe

Hope you like these cards too :)
See you again

South Korea: Nami Island (남이섬)

I got these postcards when I visited the Nami Island in summer time 2013. It was an island that’s located on the northern Han River; and it is 63 kilometers east of Seoul. The most famous view on the island is the Metasequoia footpath, which is shown on two of postcards taken in spring and winter respectively. There are also few ostriches on the island.

The reason for the island to be so famous, especially the Matasequoia Path, is because it was one of the main filming locations of the KBS drama Winter Sonata. Since the drama, the number of visitors increased more than 10-fold to 3 million in 2014.

Although Nami Island is not an independent country, it has declared its cultural independence and was renamed Naminara Republic.

Metasequoia Lane - Spring

Probably the best time to go to Nami Island because the island is very lively and you can see the entire island riding the bike.

Metasequoia Lane - Winter

It'd be fun to go during winter they say.
It'll not be cold they say.
(Brrrrrrrr)

Forest of Crimson Foliage

Most likely taken during fall, these red leaves are giving a message that summer ended and winter is about to come.

Yellow Ginkgo Forest

This is my personal favorite :) I think it'd be awesome if my wedding pictures are taken here :P

Hope you liked Nami Island :) I'd go again if I had the chance to
Definitely going back for the vie...oo...oo...food....... O_O
THEY HAVE GOOD FOOD...
(I'm going back for the food.....)

South Korea: Cassiopeia (카시오페이아)

Yesterday, I received my very first postcard from direct swapping. It was a card sent from South Korea, with the picture of Cassiopeia on the card. It was such a beautiful surprise because I do like constellation postcards a lot :)

Here’s Wikipedia's information on Cassiopeia:

“Cassiopeia is a constellation in the northern sky, named after the vain queen Cassiopeia in Greek mythology, who boasted about her unrivaled beauty. Cassiopeia was one of the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd-century Greek astronomer Ptolemy, and it remains one of the 88 modern constellations today. It is easily recognizable due to its distinctive 'M' shape when in upper culmination but in higher northern locations when near lower culminations in spring and summer it has a 'W' shape, formed by five bright stars.” - Wikipedia

And of course :) Beautiful Cassiopeia stamps that goes with the card.

And here’s the link if you’d like to know more about Cassiopeia

Well, hope you liked this postcard J

Hong Kong: Sleepy Animals

Hello Everyone, WalaGemini here :) Are you enjoying your weekend?
It's super sunny and hot here in Hong Kong, which is actually the perfect day for some afternoon naps and reading. I wonder what you wonderful people did or have planned for today :P

Today I would like to share with you some animals postcards that basically describe what I do on the weekends ------ NAP x EAT x DRINK... Tell me if you like any of these :)

It'd be nice to sleep with your nap buddy if you have one
Makes the bed a lot cozier despite the fact that it's already cozy and warm.

If you are not into napping, maybe a beer..?

Or staring at the air reminding yourself how fat you've became....

Or think about what you want to eat for lunch, dinner, and tomorrow's breakfast even though you just ate....

Anyways...hope everyone is enjoying their weekend while I think about what I'm gonna be eating for breakfast :) ZzZzZz

Finland: Animal Maxi Cards

While I was organizing my old postcard yesterday, I found a old collection of postcard my uncle gifted me many years ago.

Unfortunately, other than Finland and released on 2004, I do not have much information on these beautiful set of cards. Hope you liked them :)

Do you like maxi-cards also? :P

Hong Kong: Hong Kong Foods

Rainy Days? Food will make them better :D

In Hong Kong, we are experiencing heavy rain falls and thunderstorms for the last few days. Although many of you may not like rainy weathers, staying indoor while it rains meows and woofs  is one of my favorite settings. (that's how cats and dogs sound like, right?) It feels very comforting when I am cozy and warm in  my bed doing some reading and blog writing while listening to soft music.

To brighten up this rather gloomy atmosphere, I would like to share with you 5 delicious postcards that introduces Hong Kong Foods.

Breakfast Set A

This is a typical Hong Kong breakfast you can eat at a Hong Kong style restaurant, also called “Cha Chan Teng”. This is a breakfast usually including a bowl of noodle soup, a side of meat or eggs of your choice, toast, and a drink. In the picture, serving in the bowl is macaroni and sliced ham paired with a light chicken broth. On the side is a cup of hot milk tea. It is rich breakfast tea with evaporated milk, however, you can always ask for condensed milk if you like your tea to be sweeter.

Fish Dumpling

More commonly known as Siu Mai, is a very popular street food among Hong Kongers. It is usually eaten with soy sauce along with chili oil depending on your preference on spiciness. I personally like to add a small amount of chili oil since it gives a little kick to it other than the saltiness of the soy sauce. It’s a relatively non-spendy snack and you could easily get 7 pieces with only 1 US dollar :D

Maltose Crackers

This is the kind of snack if you like a mixture of sweet and salty in one bite. Between the two pieces of salty crackers is sweet and sticky maltose that keeps the cracker from falling apart. It could get pretty messy when you are enjoying this piece of delicacy.

Coconut Tart

This is so far my least favorite out of the five foods. While the crust is buttery and airy, the custard in the middle is mixed with coconut, which made it sweeter than the original egg tart. If you have a sweet tooth, this will be the perfect snack for you.

Shrimp Dumplings

This is a very common and loved food item among Chinese Dim Sum. Fresh shrimp are wrapped into the sticky and chewy rice-skin, and then steamed until the skin becomes transparent. It is usually eaten just by itself, but chili oil also goes well with it.

Hope you will be interested in trying some of these foods :)

Hong Kong: Some Cute Collection

Hello everyone, WalaGemini here :D I hope that you are enjoying your Friday :)

Today I want to share with you 4 super doper cute and adorable postcards I bought from an online store few days ago :) I don't always buy postcards online, BUT THEY ARE IRRESISTIBLE and I know you will agree with me after looking at them *giggles*

My Sunset Collection (HKD $12/ea)

The first one is a set of colorful jars decorated with sunset painting, making each jar unique and scenic. My favorite one would be the one on the top right hand corner, which is the "Waiting for the bus" one. I like this one especially because of the purple-ish sky color, which gives a calming feel.

Half Full (HKD $12/ea)

This one is my favorite card out of the four. Many of you have heard of the optimistic and pessimistic opinion towards half glasses, but I bet you never thought there'd be so many doppelgangers with different personalities. I thought the glass with a perfect pitch was the best because I myself love music :)
HK Food (HKD $12/ea)

This is not the kind of postcard you'd want to look at in the middle of the night because it will definitely make you HUNGRY. These are some awesome, yummy, famous food from Hong Kong that you wouldn't want to miss if you visit our city someday :) And yes, that says BLOOD on the jelly looking thing. It is made from pig's blood, but it doesn't have a rusty taste to it. (It sounds super gross but its really good.)

I'm here for you --- Bear (HKD $12/ea)

This last one, which is the cutest one of all in my opinion, is a chubby bear reminding me that I'm never alone. It'd be a great card to send to your friend who is currently overseas or who has been going through a tough time. I'm sure this can cheer them up.

These 4 artistic cards are drawn and sold by a store named All Things Bright and Beautiful. If you are interested in purchasing one of these cards or other equally wonderful cards, please feel free to visit one of the following links. :)

Since this is a page where I intend to share my postcard collection,
I especially picked out this one to share with you all.

Tsing Ma Bridge, Hong Kong

I bought this postcard back in 2012 Summer before I went overseas to USA. The bridge on the postcard is the Tsing Ma Bridge (青馬大橋), which is a landmark and very scenic spot in Hong Kong. It was build in 1997, and the 2nd longest span suspension bridge at the time it was built.

Not only this postcard presented the most well-known bridge from my city, I especially liked the background. The orange-ish sky is calming and energizing at the same time.  Although sun-setting signals people that the day is coming to an end, it is also when people are ready for Hong Kong's exciting and colorful night life.

I hope you liked this postcard

Leave me a comment if you have anything you'd like to share :)
(e.g. bridges or famous landmark in your country)

See you all again <3
