Ukraine: Bannik

Bannik is the bathhouse spirit in Slavic mythology. Slavic bathhouses resemble saunas, with an inner steaming room and an outer changing room. The their firing (or fourth) was reserved for Bannik has an inclination to invite demons and forest spirits to share his bath. If disturbed by an intruder while washing, Bannik might pour boiling water over him, or even strangle him.

Germany: Helgoland Island (Heligoland)

Helgoland is a small German archipelago in the Heligoland Bight in the southern corner of the North Sea. Helgoland used to be called Heyligeland, or "holy land", possibly due to the island's long association with the god Forseti.

The local population, who are ethnic Frisians, speaks the Heligolandic dialect of the North Frisian language called Halunder.

USA: Grand Teton National Park















Grand Teton National Park is located in northwestern Wyoming in USA. The park includes the major peaks of the 40-mile-long (64 km) Teton Range as well as most of the northern sections of the valley known as Jackson Hole. It is only 10 miles south of Yellowstone National Park. The Grand Teton NP is part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, one of the largest intact mid-latitude temperate ecosystems in the world.

Taiwan: Double-Heart of Stacked Stone (七美雙心石滬)

Double-Heart of Stacked Stone, also known as the Twin-Heart Fish trap, is a stone fising weir located on the north side of Qimei Township, Penghu County, Taiwan. It is a well-preserved ancient fish trap made by stacking stones to form a trap that resembles two hearts.

Malaysia: Kota Kinabalu City Mosque




















The Kota Kinabalu City Mosque is the second main mosque in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The mosque was officially opened in 2000 following a proclamation of the city status of Kota Kinabalu.

This mosque is partially surrounded by a human-made lagoon; this has give rise to the nickname "The Floating Mosque". In 2008, the mosque introduced paddle boat rides, from which visitors could see the mosque from the water.

Croatia: Betina Museum of Wooden Shipbuilding

















In August 11-14th, Betina hosted the 2nd annual event of Small Wooden Shipbuilding Days. The goal with this programme is to point out the values of small wooden shipbuilding has in our maritime heritage, The Betina Museum of Wooden Shipbuilding prepared interesting lectures, exhibitions and workshops both for kids and adults. The museum also ended the programme with a traditional sailing regatta "For the Body and Soul" on the fourth day of the event.

Finland: Squirrel in the woods

















Facts about squirrels:
1) Squirrels are very trusting animals, and are of the very few wild animal species which will eat out of a person's hand.
2) Squirrels tend to run in erratic paths. This is intended to deceive potential predators as to its chosen direction so that it may escape.
3) The squirrel is the Native American symbol for preparation, trust, and thriftiness.
4) Squirrels are extremely intelligent creatures as they are known to put on elaborate bogus food burying displays to deceive onlookers.
5) Squirrels are cute.

France: Jumieges Abbey

Jumieges Abbey was a Benedictine monastery. situated in the commune of Jumieges in Normandy, France.

After numerous re-establishments, it was only in the middle of the 19th century that the process of destruction came to a end, and the abbey we see today is broadly as it was at the time - a process helped by Victor Hugo referring to Jumieges as "the most beautiful ruins in France".

Taiwan: Grand Hotel - Taipei















The Grand Hotel (圓山大飯店) is a landmark located at Yuanshan in Taipei, Taiwan. The hotel was established in 1952 ad the main building was completed in 1973. The main building is one of the world's tallest Chinese classical buildings, and was also the tallest building in Taiwan from 1973 to 1981.

Dragon motifs are frequently intertwined throughout the various structures that make up the hotel, earning this hotel the name "The Dragon Palace". Besides dragons, lion and plum flower motifs also make a significant presence in the hotel.

Mount Fuji is located on Honshu Island. It is also the highest mountain and an active stratovolcano  in Japan.

Mt. Fuji is one of Japan's "Three Holy Mountains" along with Mt. Tate ad Mt. Haku. It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013.

Australia: Aurora Borealis Over the Sea

I have yet to see that with my own eyes...
And I think the best place to do so is in the Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort...which has the glass igloos
It'd be awesome to stay a week there and watch the beautiful lights.
