The Duquesne Incline is a inclined plane railroad located near Pittsburgh scaling Mt. Washington. Originally steam powered, the Duquesne Incline was built to carry cargo up the mountain in late 19th century. The incline was closed in 1962 due to the need for repair. But local Duquesne Heights residents launched a fund-raiser to help it, and successfully reopened under the auspices of a non-profit organization dedicated to its preservation. If you ride this "Little Red Incline" today, you will be in the same cars used by passengers since 1877.
